ADHD is een diagnose, een manier van zijn die voortdurend nerveus naar orde zoekt en ondertussen onophoudelijk nieuwe ideeën uitstoot. Maar ADHD is ook een IJslands jazzkwartet dat altijd in lichte chaos verkeert en zichzelf waarschijnlijk nooit een jazzkwartet zou noemen. Het zijn eerder vier vrienden die samenkomen om te communiceren op hun eigen manier - talen uit verschillende werelden, samengebracht in een gedeelde, fictieve ruimte.
Sinds 2007 bouwt ADHD aan klankenlandschappen die ademen met de geest van hun thuisland: ongetemd, mysterieus en geladen met rauwe elementaire kracht. Wanneer deze vier Vikingen op het podium staan, krijgen we een idee van hoe het eilandvolk door de eeuwen heen de lange, ijskoude winters heeft weten te overleven: ze putten hun energie simpelweg uit zichzelf.
Met hun negende album 9 (2024) bevestigde ADHD hun status als pioniers. Hun bezoek aan AMOK luidt nu de aankondiging in van hun tiende album, dat in oktober 2026 verschijnt. Hun nieuwste werk is orkestraler en melodieuzer dan ooit, maar blijft rauw en warm, met hypnotische elektro-akoestische texturen. Verwacht geen voorspelbare paden, enkel nieuwe horizonten - resonerend met de gletsjerige stilte en vulkanische intensiteit van IJsland.

Vertrekkend vanuit minimalistisch muzikaal materiaal ontwikkelt het trio complexe klanken trajecten door gezamenlijk spel, waarbij het navigeert tussen compositie en improvisatie. Tegelijk reflecteert Material op het concept zelf. Tussen consumptiemaatschappij, oorsprong en de vraag wat overblijft: wat er werkelijk toe doet.

ADHD is a diagnosis, a psychological disposition that is constantly and nervously searching for order, all the while sprouting new ideas. ADHD is an Icelandic jazz quartet that is in a state of perpetual disarray and would likely never describe itself as a jazz quartet. Rather, they are four friends who meet for ritualistic communication, gathering various languages from different worlds in a shared space within a fictional landscape.
Since 2007, Icelandic quartet ADHD has been crafting sonic landscapes that breathe with the spirit of their homeland: untamed, mysterious, and charged with raw elemental power. When these four Vikings are on stage, we get a sense of how the island people have been able to survive the long and icy winters through the centuries: they simply produce their energy out of themselves.
With their ninth album 9 (2024), ADHD reaffirmed their status as trailblazers. Now, their visit to AMOK sets the stage for the release of their tenth album in October 2026. Their latest work is more orchestral and melodic than ever, yet remains raw and warm, blending hypnotic electro-acoustic textures. other:M:other present their second album titled Material at AMOK. Starting from minimalist musical material, the trio develops complex sonic trajectories through collaborative playing, navigating the space between composition and improvisation. At the same time, „Material“ reflects on the concept itself – between consumer society, origins, and the question of what remains: what matters.
